How To Write SEO Friendly Blogs

Blogging is important.

It's worth saying again.

A blog is an important part of your website.

Whether you call it News, Resources, Tools, or {**gasp**} Blog; the SEO benefit of a blog outweighs all your complaints about finding the time to write it.

First, it gives you the ability to write and showcase new product features, new industry trends, and your industry expertise - gaining trust from readers and potential clients.

Second, by updating your website regularly and adding content in the form of a blog, search engines will crawl your site and bring you higher rankings and more traffic.

But....and this is a big but....

Those higher rankings and more traffic depend on not only the updated current content, but using highly searched keywords and topics effectively.

Organizing with Categories

This is for the reader. Minimal benefit to SEO.

If you have many different products, or find it easier to , we suggest organizing the blog with categories, and adding relevant articles and resources in the categories for easy searching.

For example, if you are a Financial Planner, you might have the following categories:

  • Financial Literacy

  • Social Security

  • Retirement Planning

  • Tax Planning

  • Insurance Strategies

If you are in the real estate industry, you might have these categories:

  • Buying and Selling

  • Rental Properties

  • Investment Properties

Of if you are in the fashion industry and the latest news is the most important, you might not have to use categories at all.

Using Keywords Effectively

Huge SEO benefits here. If you do only one thing we've suggested...do this.

Hopefully you have spent some time researching keywords for your website. (If not, get started! Or give us a call and we can help.)

The best way to use keywords is:

  1. In the category name (if possible)

  2. In the blog headline

  3. At least once in the first paragraph

  4. Throughout the rest of the blog post, but don’t overdo it - the blog post should still make sense to readers

You'll notice the keywords should be in the headline - but we also tell you to be sure it makes sense to the reader. Let me clarify - this means you will need to write a blog focusing on the hot keywords in your industry. Which should reflect the hot topics in your industry.

Keyword focused topics + worthy information added to your website = positive SEO indicators that bring higher rankings and more traffic. Win, win.
